Meet Our Nana
Where to begin. Mom came from a family of prominent black leaders and business owners. Her father owned local establishments like music joints and hotels for traveling performers. Her mother worked as an independent housekeeper, a skill and a clientele she had inherited from her mother. Although many of my grandfather’s achievements were overcome by investors moving in nearby and the inability to compete in a changing market, he left a legacy would be witnessed in myself and my sister later in life. Grandpa Everett finished out his life working for the US Lead Company after eventually closing down his life’s work. Grandma eventually became a nurse, and they set my mother and her siblings up for as much success as they could despite the family’s business losses.
Today I have my grandfather’s determination, my grandmother’s caring nature and attention to detail, and my mother’s talent, good looks and social graces. My business provides cleaning services in residential homes, just as my grandmother did. I expand beyond what grandma did and offer small services to my clients that others would not think of. Whether this mean extra organizing or driving them to an appointment. Your home is my priority, and at Unique our teams will treat you like they do their own families. I get this from my loving and caring mom, who we call Nana and who continues to encourage my business to expand. She is there with us at every social event. She supports us by reminding me to follow through and channel my drive and determination. She inspires me to be creative, and she truly is a joy to have as a mother and as the grandmother of my children.
In January 2023, we had a shock that rocked the entire family. Nana went in for chest pain she thought was related to indigestion. It was in fact an aortic dissection, and the result could have been fatal had we not gotten her to the ER upon the onset of pain. My family is so lucky today to still have our Nana. Although she has not fully recovered, we are looking forward to the day she can join us again for local festivals, shopping, and coming to support ALL of our events, no matter how many additions to the family. Nana loves us all, and she passes that love on to me and my sister. It is from my Nana’s heart that I present to you Unique Household Services and the passion I have to show love and genuine care for each of my Unique clients. Thank you mom, and thank you to my grandparents and their parents who walked a road we do not yet know to this day. We run Unique for you and for all of those who came before.
